History of Modern South Asia


The Penn State University Department of History and the Asian Studies Program invite applications for a tenure-track position in the history of modern South Asia (1830 to present). The appointment will be held jointly in the Department of History and the Asian Studies Program, with a tenure-home in History, and will begin in August, 2013. The successful applicant should be able to enhance the interdisciplinary strengths of both units, demonstrate an active research agenda, and be able to contribute immediately to both graduate and undergraduate teaching in the department. Candidate must have a Ph.D. in hand by the date of appointment. Send a curriculum vitae, a letter of application that describes current and future research, evidence of teaching effectiveness, and letters of reference from three referees (under separate cover). Applications may also include up to three offprints or unpublished papers or chapters.
