Biography:

Biography:

I am a doctoral candidate in Latin American history with minor fields in early modern European and medieval Iberian history, along with Latin American Studies. My research interests include colonial Latin America, ethnohistory, history of science, environmental history, and indigenous languages. My dissertation project, currently titled “Explosive Encounters: Volcanic Landscapes, Indigenous Knowledge, and Cultural Exchange in Colonial Mesoamerica,” focuses on volcanoes as sites of cultural and intellectual exchange among Nahuas in central Mexico, Kaqchikel Maya in highland Guatemala, and Spanish priests, conquistadors, and naturalists.
